One in Ten: Living a Life of Gratitude

Luke 17:11-19 (NIV)
Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!”

When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed.

One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.

Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” 19 Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”

Philippians 4: 6 – 8 (KJV)
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

I recently have been immersing myself into the topic of gratitude. I have been looking at research studies, scripture, reading from authors that concentrate on this topic and have been implementing some changes in my own life.

All to say, I am a firm believer in gratitude being a vehicle to experience healing and experience a deep peace and clear joy. Although, it does matter who you say thank you to…

Challenge yourself this week to pay attention to the gifts all around you (cool breeze, sunlight, favorite song on radio, healing, relationships, etc.).

For those of you that are Christ followers challenge yourself to really contemplate the following verse:

One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan. Luke 17:15-16

Do you have anything to thank Christ for, showing gratitude to this extent?

I know I do…
