Living Psalm 90:12

Have you ever had the feeling that time has sped up!  It is like someone hit the fast forward button and you are trying to get the remote back to hit play!  Or are you walking a path right now where you feel "stuck" and again you wish you could get the remote and hit play!  When these feelings have come to me or I have spoke to someone experiencing a similar situation I have discovered some helpful questions.  If you find yourself in a similar situation try answering these questions:

1) What are the most important things to you? Really, what are your true priorities…go ahead and list them…I will wait.

For those that believe and follow Christ, ask yourself if these priorities honor Christ?

2) How much time and/or energy do you spend directly on or with those priorities?

The key in question 2 is the word "directly".  I have found with myself and those I speak to that we spend lots of time indirectly with our priorities but not directly (i.e. the energy spent working to be able to provide for a family versus the energy spent directly with your family).

3) What would it take for your time and/or energy to match your priorities?

This one can be hard but do not stop until you can come up with TEN...yes TEN options.  I encourage you to even ask for help on this one (i.e. spouse, friend, parent, etc.).  It is that important!

4) Try to implement at least one item on your list from question 3 each month!

Think about this.  If you follow this within the span of a year you will be on your way to living your life matching your priorities.  Above all, the most important part of this is to take these priorities before God and see how they compare to what scripture says our priorities need to be in our life.  That way, no matter the current speed of time in your world, you will be sure to be living life with wisdom.

Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
