Worrying vs. Caring

Are you Worrying or are you Caring?
I recently read an article entitled, "10 Practical Ways to Handle Stress".  One aspect of this article caught my attention when the author made the point that there is a difference in worrying and caring.  Worrying is trying to change circumstances without doing something and caring is when you are trying to change circumstances with doing something.

I agree with this very much; yet, what happens when you have "done" everything you can do concerning the issue that is bothering you?  Do you then get to worry?  I would recommend the following:

1)  Care or Worry.  Find a good friend or pastor to discuss the issue with in-depth.  Really explore if you have "cared" about this situation or if you have "worried" about this situation.

2)  PRAY.  Prayer is powerful in changing circumstances and remember to pray about God changing you.  I often catch myself praying about an issue I have with someone else and remind myself that I also need to pray that God changes ME.  Maybe you are not seeing the situation clearly, maybe you are doing something to contribute to the issue in an unhealthy way, or maybe you are trying to fix the issue instead of trusting God.

3) Extra Help.  Sometimes speaking to a pastor and counselor may be the wise route to go.  Some individuals at certain points may be having issues with spiritual warfare or with clinical depression or anxiety.  Whichever may be the issue there are several resources (i.e. prayer, scripture, medication, breathing techniques, etc.) that can help with these.

So the next time an issue starts to bother you ask yourself, "am I caring about this issue or am I worrying about this issue".

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
