Three Cords - The Need for Community

Ecclesiastes 4:12 (NIV)
Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

During the past week I have had so many reminders about the importance of community in our lives.  Two of the many reminders stick out to me especially.  One of these came in the form of the following statement:

"I tell people this all the time, I tell them that God is faithful, to trust and things will work out.  I know this is true but I do not feel it right now."

Throughout this conversation, topics such as leading your feelings and the importance to have people around you that will support and encourage you in the truth were explored.  This individual knew Biblical principles and spoke about God but were in a state where they had been knocked down emotionally.  This person needed some HELP to get back UP.  This person needed a caring community.

Another reminder came in the message the Senior Pastor at Mecklenburg Community Church, Jim White, preached about this past weekend.  This message focused on the role of the church and why Christ established the church.  One aspect that was spoken about included having a community to reach out to for support and prayer.

A healthy community, one that encourages and supports a person in the truth may not be easy to find but this was one of the purposes Christ has for the church.  A place filled with people that will rejoice when you rejoice and cries when you cry to show you support.  If you are looking for such a place please contact us today!

1 Corinthians 12:25-26 (NIV)
so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
